Rathgar Scout Group is based in
Christ Church Rathgar and is a member of the newly formed Scout
association Scouting Ireland since January 2004. Rathgar Scout Troop
has been in operation since 1917. The group is one of 9 Scout groups
which comprise the Dodder
Scout
County.
The group as a whole has over 70 members and leaders spread over 3
sections.

Beaver Scouts
is for boys aged 6 to 8 years of age. Beavers meet weekly at
11 a.m.
on Saturdays.
Programme centres on games, arts and crafts and other activities
designed to stimulate the imagination and encourage members to have
lots of fun whilst making lots of new friends. Annual events include
attending Beaver National Fun days, pantomime visits and Dublin Zoo
trips.

Cub Scouts
meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Cubs is for boys aged 8
- 10. Cubs are divided into sixes, with a sixer leading each six.
Cubs make friends and have lots of fun. Cubs go camping at least
once a year, go on day hikes and do badgework which encourages
learning new skills.

Scouts
is open to those aged 11 - 16 and meet every Friday from
7:15 - 9:30 p.m.
The troop is divided into a number of patrols and each patrol has 6
- 8 members, including a patrol leader who looks after the group and
ensures that everyone knows what’s going on. Friday meetings are a
mix of games and activities, including team building challenges,
skills challenges and lots of fun. Scouts go camping 4 - 5 times a
year, take part in county competition camps, Hostelling weekends in
winter, day hikes, events and more. The highlight of every year is
the week long summer camp. Recent summercamps have seen the troop
visit France,
Austria,
Northern Ireland
as well as Jamborees in the UK and
and a
trip to the World Scout Centre in Kandersteg in Switzerland.

Scafia Venture Scouts is open to
Scouts who reach 16, who then have the option of joining. It
draws its membership from 4 groups in the County.
